ALBANIA  - CLIMATE CHANGE PROGRAMME / UNIT

Stocktaking exercise (self-assessment)

Started                                             September 2004
Status of Implementation
Finalized in November 2004

The main objective of the self-assessment exercise was to undertake a highly consultative and participatory process of needs assessment to identify and validate the critical priorities for UNFCCC implementation in Albania in general, and was considered as the first but critical step in preparing the Second National Communication project proposal.

This exercise has provided an assessment of gaps, uncertainties, barriers and lessons learnt during previous and ongoing activities. This approach helps to ensuring that the SNC will be build upon previous activities, studies, experiences, and institutional settings.

A synthesis report is produced as the main output by serving of dual purpose: It is being used as a baseline document for the SNC proposal, as well as an input to identify and validate priorities for further in-depth studies and new areas of work to be carried out in the course of the SNC.
