Inauguration Ceremony
for the Solar Testing Centre |

11 September 2008 -
As a
result of joint efforts and synergy between Austrian
Development Cooperation funded project “Solar water
heaters in Albania” and GEF/UNDP funded project “Albania
– Market transformation for solar water heating”, for
the first time in Albania and among rare cases in the
region, a solar testing facility was set up at the
premises of the Harry Fultz Institute in Albania. The
inauguration ceremony organized for this event took
place on 11 September 2008

2008 -
"Albania
is implementing a programme of activities aiming
to reduce the growth rate of greenhouse gas
emissions, adaptation to negative impacts
of climate change and enabling the carbon
financing mechanisms under the coordination
and support provided from the United Nations
Development Programme. The “One UN”
programme that Albania’s Government has
voluntarily joined provides new opportunities to
address among others the global environmental
issues and specifically climate change through
application of new approaches and new ways of
partnership" - said Mr. Lufter Xhuveli

Adminsitration) at the United NAtions 63th
Session of General Assembly.

Human Development Report 2007/2008 dedicated
to the Global Climate Change on namely: “Fighting

December 2007 – “We are here today, to bring the
political attention to this event, which I hope,
is following the historical and
never-happened-before journey that the climate
change issue, has had in the course of this year.
The Government of Albania, considers the
environment as one of its most important
questions, and among others, it is committed to
fulfil all the obligations, deriving from Global
UN Conventions, such as Climate Change
Convention”- said Mr. Lufter Xhuveli (Minister of
Environment, Forests & Water Administration) at
the high –level segment of the 13 Session of the
CoP of the UNFCCC, held in Bali, Indonesia, 3-14
December 2007.

Exhibition on "This is my contribution against

23 October 2007 - The exhibition which
gathered and showed 48 paintings form the kids of
this school was launched in the premises of the
SOS - “Hermann Gmeiner” school. Mr. Lufter
Xhuveli, the Minister of the Ministry of
Environment, Forests and Water Administration and
, Ms. Gulden Turkoz Cosslett, the UN Res.
Coordinator & UNDP Resident Representative joined
the kids, their teachers and their parents who

24 September 2007 - United Nations
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon sought to advance
the global agenda on climate change when he met
with heads of state and other top officials from
more than 150 countries at United Nations
Headquarters on 24 September. More than 70 heads
of state or government attended the one-day event,
making it the largest meeting ever of world
leaders on climate change. The Albania's Minister
of Foreign Affiars, H.E. Mr. L.Basha
